Hey guys!
So this post is based on my observation and sadly I’ve also made this mistake๐.
Once we start using social media (be it Instagram, Snapchat, pinterest, Facebook or wordpress itself) we initially start it because either of our curiosity or because of someone’s influence (probably friends). At first there is no intention of having more followers or being more popular. But eventually as we proceed with our blogs, gaining more followers and likes, we get addicted but not to the art of writing, we get addicted to the likes and followers, so we start to post regularly without even checking if the post is up to the mark or not. What I’ve learnt is that if you ever want to be a good blogger, a YouTuber or a writer then you need to focus on your content more than your likes and followers. Regularity is important but not at the cost of the quality of content written.
There is another very common mistake of blindly liking a post which is the most pathetic mistake anyone could make. If you don’t read others’ posts then how on Earth will you get new ideas? and how will you have that multiple perspective needed by writers? Reading others’ posts And appreciating them gives us a basic idea of what is going on in the blogging world and how can you be different and unique. This makes you creative instead of being calculative. Liking others’ posts just so that they like yours increases your followers. Agreed. But try actually reading and commenting their stuff, you will get a sense if belonging and relativity if they have the same genre of content as you.
Writing is almost all bloggers’ passion right? Yet we start getting addicted to likes and followers rather than writing. And it’s not ENTIRELY our fault. Why? Because when we use social media, text people, get likes on posts then dopamine is released and none of realize this untill the damage is done and we are addicted. Our smartphones have been designed in a way to make us want to use it more. But writing good and creative content requires time, but since we’re addicted to use our phones and get all those likes, we post shitty stuff. If you’re really talented then surely you will get likes but your downfall will be evident to you, not because of the no. Of likes but because of that little voice that’ll come from inside you to take your passions seriously and NOT waste your talent.
Agreed !!!!! I’ve noticed same thing ,many bloggers lose hope when they don’t get likes or followers.
And it’s okay to feel sad & demotivated about it.
But you should be confident enough about your content to keep writing.

So true. The most pathetic thing is if someone is getting a like he/she doesn’t even know if the person actually has read the blog.

Yeah. This really sucks and needs to be changed.

Good points.Thank you .My experience so far is some bloggers go on liking others blog posts in a single stretch say with in 3 to 5 seconds( this one can appreciate by the beep sound from the mobile ) making me wonder how they read the at least 6 blog posts in 5 seconds ! May be they want me either to follow their blog or click likes of their posts,a kind of you scratch my back…I scratch yours …type.I feel if you like a post at least make it a point whenever possible , what is that made you like / dislike the post so that the author can have better idea about his/her posts.

True, that’s why comments is the best medium of appreciation. And I do have the same experience of getting 4-5 likes in 2 seconds which is pathetic ’cause I won’t even know if they really like my post or are just making me check out their profile and posts

Hey, dear Arushi!
I guess you’re not the only one who faced this problem, but it’s okay, once you realize it and try to correct it.
Good posts are the one who are worth reading, which widen your horizons and enlighten you, and from what I’ve noticed since I read your blog, it is one of those good ones.
So keep up the good work and don’t worry!

Yes so true..people usually think of more traffic to their blog by hitting likes blindly and ultimately forget the meaning of blogging…

Yeah! They forget the sole purpose of their blogs

Agreed! To grow a blog it is important to write well. To get inspired by others ideas and bring our own perspective into it. Liking others’ posts is respecting their content.

True. People just need to realize how important it is to appreciate other bloggers by actually reading their posts and giving their own point of view on the matter.

Well, this is worth reading.
Running for likes and followers doesn’t change anything. Maybe that motivates several people but the thing is, we’ve to concentrate on what we post here because there are people who actually read our posts.
Likes can come up any day but the quality is all that matters.

Love that you posted this. If you ever have free time please read my blogs and give me feed back. Having some comment means more to me than the “like” simply because I feel a connection or that someone simply gets where im coming from. Blogging is my happy place ๐คช๐คฌ๐ฑ๐คฏ๐๐๐

Thanks for opening my eyes. I am going through this dilemma of how to get more views and likes. I am confident about my content but somehow I am not getting as much views and likes i am supposed to get. Well I should not forget that I write for the sake of my love for writing and not for getting hundreds of likes.

Well I faced this. It’s good to have more views and likes but your main objective should be to help YOURSELF by making yourself happy by writing not by getting likes and views.
